Photshop Line Book - Ex & Serving RAN Photographers

Unofficial RAN Photographers Galleries
Welcome to the Photshop Line Book

Line Books originated in the Air Force during, or before, World War 2. They were an unofficial record of the goings on within a particular squadron or group. Line books would contain a mixture of photographs, cartoons, and misquotes that were generally not suited for public consumption, particularly in these modern days of political correctness. The Photshop Line Book intends to have several albums pertaining to a particular era and/or subject of interest. Registered users may upload their own photos, video, or documents, and make comments. Everyone can view all material so be cautious about what you upload.

REGISTRATION - Self registration is now (02/2010) disabled due to SPAMMERS. If you really want to register then send an email to pony AT navyphots.com with "Pony let me in the Linebook" in subject line. You will be emailed on successful registration. Registrations require real namesand. No Nick names!

The Photshop Line Book is part of the navyphots.com forum - click here to Register. navyphots.com is a meeting place for ex and serving Royal Australian Navy photographers, and friends of phots. This is a separate registration from the Photshop Line Book.
Photo Resizing before Uploading
The Photshop Linebook needs photos that are less than 150 kbyte in size. To reduce the typical image size from 2-3 megabyte you will have to use a program to resize for you. The easiest way is to go to the Microsoft website and download ImageResizer.exe

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx - Click ImageResizer.exe on the right hand side of the page. Follow the prompts to download. When downloaded Click Run to install the program. You may need to reboot your computer.

How to use: Open Windows Explorer, navigate to your photo folder, right click the mouse on the wanted image then select Resize Pictures. On the dialog box select 800x600 then Click OK. The resized image will be in the same folder. Upload it to the Photshop LineBook.

You can resize more than one image at once by selecting the required ones then right clicking to select Resize Pictures. Entire folders can be resized by selecting every image - File->Select all.
Image Specialist
RAN Photographers are undergoing a name change and change of direction in work related activities. From October 1 2009 the Photographer rating will change to Image Specialist reflecting the change in direction of the work done. It is said that "high quality PR photographs" will still be produced but the main work will be "Intelligence" focused. The bellows camera right arm rating badge will still be worn.

Geoff Vickridge & Rick Reynolds22 viewsPhoto from last Saturday night in Perth (260909). Geoff on the left is a young 67 year old who served with Rick, a not so young 71 year old, in HMAS Yarra in the early 60's. Rick was getting his dibby time in order to qualify as a Leading Seaman - which he did. Geoff, who was not a Phot, got on extremely well with Rick and assisted him ashore in all those exotic ports they visited to take both still & movie, Rick had to have someone to do the shot lists didn’t he!
